The  artwork for the original colour lithographic poster was created by Leonetto Cappiello in the 1899 and printed in Paris by La Lithographie Nouvelle.
 
Le Frou-Frou was a light-hearted, humorous publication that ran from 1900 to the beginning of the First World War. Its content included  images of can-can dancers, cartoons, humorous accounts of Parisian life, and more risqué essentials  including some of the first advertisements for condoms.
